Remind-Me events can optionally be set up to automatically send e-mail when the event is due or near due. Use the E-Mail options tab in the Event Information editor to customize if and how you would like your e-mail generated. If you enable sending e-mail for a particular event you can specify to what e-mail address(es) the letter should be sent, how far in advance of the event the e-mail should be sent, what to include in the body of the e-mail, what to attach to the e-mail, and whether or not you would like to have it sent automatically. By specifying the "Prompt Before Sending" option, you can compose the note yourself prior to sending it. In this case Remind-Me will create the e-mail message as you have specified, and then leave it open for you to write your letter and then send.
When composing an e-mail message Remind-Me can also walk you through recording a personalized voice greeting, which Remind-Me will then automatically attach to your e-mail. This feature uses your computer's sound card and microphone along with Window's Sound Recorder. When the option "File / Options... / Prompts / Ask to Record Sound Clip Before Sending E-mail" is turned on, you will be given the option to create a sound recording to be attached to your e-mail whenever an e-mail is created.
Remind-Me allows you to specify a file that will be included in the body of the e-mail message. This "include file" can contain keywords which will be replaced with the appropriate value from the event when the e-mail is composed by Remind-Me. Both the "include file" and the e-mail's subject line can contain any of these keywords. For more on setting the subject, see E-Mail Configuration. An example "include file" might look like:
Dear <Name>,
Hope you have a great birthday!
Your friend,
John Smith
If this include file were specified under a birthday event for Jane Doe the body of the e-mail message would appear as:
Dear Jane Doe,
Hope you have a great birthday!
Your friend,
John Smith
The following keywords can be used in a "include file" or subject line for your e-mails. The keywords should included the angled brackets. Mail merge fields are case insensitive.
