From the Password page in the Options dialog you can optionally password protect and encrypt your calendar.
Password Protect Calendar |
Select this option to enable password protection for your
calendar. When using this option your entire data file will be saved
in an encrypted state. You will be required to enter a password each
time you initially start Remind-Me before you can view your calendar. IMPORTANT WARNING:
When your calendar is saved encrypted you will need to
enter your password in order to open the calendar. If you forget your
password, all of your data in the calendar will be permanently lost.
It is very important to not forget your password. Beiley Software
cannot unlock your data file if you forget your password. If you
forget your password and want to start from a blank calendar, delete your
mydata.bdy data file, and then start Remind-Me again. It is not necessary for you to understand these technical details in order to use this feature. This is provided for information purposes only.
This feature uses AES encryption when writing your calendar file to disk. This is a very secure encryption methodology which makes it virtually impossible for anyone to see your data without knowing your password. For maximum protection choose a good password, that cannot easily be guessed by an attacker. AES encryption can use different key lengths when encoding your data. The key length used in this implementation depends on the length of your password:
