Addresses can be imported and exported from/to various file formats. The following table shows the supported import and export operations:

To import addresses use the menu command File/Import.... A wizard style dialog box will walk you through the import operation. When importing from either a Comma or Tab Separated Values file, you will be able to control how fields in the importing file are mapped to Handy Address Book fields.
Duplicate Options:
When importing you can control what to do when the same named address is in the importing file and also already in Handy Address Book. Records are considered to be duplicates if they have identical names. You can choose to ignore duplicates from the importing file, create a new address for them, or replace the current address in Handy with them.
To export addresses use the menu command File/Export.... A wizard style dialog box will walk you through the export operation. When exporting to any file type you will be able to control which fields are exported. When exporting to either a Comma or Tab Separated Values file, you will also be able to control the order in which they are written to the file.
Address(es) to Export:
When exporting you can choose to only export the currently selected addresses, or all addresses.
