Encrypt Address Book (Maximum Security) |
Select this option to enable password protection for your
whole address book. When using this option your entire address book
file will be saved in an encrypted state. This option is appropriate
when storing passwords or other sensitive information in your address book. IMPORTANT WARNING:
When your address book is saved encrypted you will need to
enter your password in order to open the book. If you forget your
password, all of your data in the address book will be permanently lost.
It is very important to not forget your password. It is not necessary for you to understand these technical details in order to use this feature. This is provided for information purposes only.
This feature uses AES encryption when writing your address book file to disk. This is a very secure encryption methodology which makes it virtually impossible for anyone to see your data without knowing your password. For maximum protection choose a good password, that cannot easily be guessed by an attacker. AES encryption can use different key lengths when encoding your data. The key length used in this implementation depends on the length of your password:

Protect Private Addresses (Minimal Security) |
Select this option to enable password protection of your
private addresses.
When password protection is enabled you must enter your password before turning on the viewing of private addresses. The viewing of private addresses can be turned on/off with the menu command View/Private.
Whether or not private addresses are being displayed is stored as part of your address book. Therefore, if you leave private addresses on in an address book, the next time you open that address book private events will be displayed, without prompting for a password. The only time a password is required is when you change the display of private addresses from off to on. |

Do Not Use Password (No Security) |

protection for your data.
